Two years is way too long to summarize.
But with much focus and effort it will be done.
A long time ago (which seemed like yesterday) I few to Alaska in a tin can.
I came excited for the work of the Lord.
To bless others lives, like mine had been blessed.
I started with President Lewis in what is now the Dance’s house.
I drove Six hours to and through a place of mystery.
Met my Canadian companion and departed five weeks later.
I drove Six hours to and through a mystery, from a different perspective.
Met my Japanese companion and stuck with him for three months of learning.
I learned a plethora, in what should have taken ions.
I drove thirty minutes to a fairytale land called Eagle River.
Met my companion from the homeland of Idaho.
Six weeks were a pleasure with stories beyond measure,
Lots of cold and being bold with suicidals.
I drove thirty minutes to a land that came more familiar.
Met my Texan companion who was a Texas “walker” ranger.
Six weeks, let’s not lie, not the best time of my life.
I drove thirty minutes to a parking lot if should call home.
Met my first southern who became my constant companion.
Six weeks were tiring and wet with no car, during Alaska’s famous break-up.
I didn’t drive or ride to transfers this time, for my time was soon when my baby was due.
Bright and cheery eyed with homesickness underlined, A child was born that day.
Three months where we laughed and once baptized.
A hopeful new world came to my life when President Dance and His wife arrived.
I remember still the first time we met “always be finding” were the words uttered spent.
I drove three hours to and through a place I soon would claim as my own.
Met a Samoan who became my companion.
Six weeks later and confrontations in the mix.
I drove three hours with another son soon in my midst’s.
Few days past and a birthday was formed.
I drove three hours to return to my home.
Three months of finding and two elect found.
I drove twenty minutes to my Heavenly Home of Kenai
Met my rockstar companion and well, we just rocked!
Pages and pages could be read, or hours of words could be said!
But to summarize “the field was white already to harvest”.
Three months of adventures I thought came to a close till I…
Met my companion from the West’s of Samoa.
We spent many memories in the shade of Mt. Redoubt
Proselyting, cribbage playing, but mostly baptizing!
Three months till the end of my ten month stay.
Brought tears to my eyes and many sleepless nights.
I drove three hours on roads that will never again be a mystery.
Met my giant companion who brought much joy.
While we labored and served in the Anchorage North Zone.
Six weeks later I had to drive again.
I drove twenty minutes to see my best friends go home.
Met my “killer” companion who ran me to my “death”
And whipped me and whipped me until he almost bled.
Six weeks to short to call them my last, but all in all were a blast.
Two years is way too short to summarize!
But between these lines lay countless miracles,
That strengthen my knowledge of God, who is King.
