Fighting Darkness

Fighting against darkness is not an easy thing.

For darkness is undirected, unseeing, and unbelieving.

How does my life always seem to get filled with the absence of light?

How can I focus on the trouble I face when it’s in constant flight?

By stepping forward through a darkened future,

I lighten my past with faith unaltered.

How do I fight against what I can’t see?

How do I win when the contestant is me?

I cannot physically win this battle.

But I can obtain some sort of a Mantle.

Let my mind open the darkness I face,

And let in the light of God’s Grace.

Fighting darkness is not a simple thing.

But, my darkness is lightened by believing.

My darkness is still black, uncertain for sure.

But my future is bright, with light that’ll endure.
